Independent, family-run LPG supplier near York since 1988
Above-ground or below-ground, the right tank in the right place makes everything else easier. We’ll help you plan it.
Tank options
Both options store LPG safely. The best choice depends on your site, space and how the tank will look.
Comparing options
| Above ground | Below ground | |
|---|---|---|
| Visibility | Visible on site; can be screened | Only the access cover is visible |
| Installation | Concrete base and pipework | Excavation, backfill and pipework, so more groundwork |
| Space | Needs safety distances around the tank | Can reduce the space taken up above ground |
| Access | Easy to inspect | Inspected through the access cover |
| Good for | Most farms, factories and commercial yards | Venues, hotels, holiday sites and sensitive settings |
Every installation must follow LGUK Codes of Practice, including Code of Practice 1 for bulk LPG storage. We’ll talk you through what applies to your site.
Choosing a location
Tanks must be set back from buildings, boundaries, drains and sources of ignition. The distance depends on the tank and site.
Our tanker needs to get close enough for the delivery hose to reach, on a suitable surface.
Above-ground tanks sit on a concrete base; below-ground tanks need suitable ground for excavation.
The shorter and simpler the route to your appliances, the better. A Gas Safe registered engineer connects your appliances.
